I grew up around the ocean and have always loved it since I was a kid. Once I got to about 8th grade, I wanted a saltwater fish tank. I worked at Publix at that time and was able to afford all of the items necessary to start my tank. I got a used saltwater fish tank from craigslist and set it up in my house. I became very knowledgeable about saltwater fish tanks and their value from looking at them all the time on Craigslist. One day I found another tank that I liked and bought it. This started my hobby of negotiating prices on fish tanks so I would buy them pretty cheap, then I would take the items I liked, and resold the rest for profit. Although I was pretty young, I made a decent amount of money off fixing up and reselling saltwater fish tanks and I got most of the items I needed for free.
I enrolled in this class because I think having an entrepreneur's mindset is extremely beneficial as a business student. I would like to learn how to grow my entrepreneurial skills and learn more skills that I haven't come across as of now.
Hey Daniel,
ReplyDeleteI too grew up around the ocean being that I am from Miami all my weekends were either spent at the beach or in the Keys. I think that it is awesome you were able to turn something you were passionate about into a little side hustle to make some extra cash. The fact that you were able to recognize that opportunity at such a young age is awesome and I hope you continue to take advantage of other entrepreneurial opportunities as you get older. Best of luck to you!
Hi Daniel, it is cool how your passion turned into profit for you at such a young age. Having an entrepreneur kind of mindset, no matter if you are one or not is always a good thing. Most future business owners don't immediately come out of school knowing what they want to do, so having that mindset allows you to always be open to new ideas and problems that could eventually turn you into an entrepreneur. Nice article.
