Assignment 14A: Halfway Reflection
1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course? I think the hardest obstacle I had to overcome was procrastinating the work. I have work on the weekends so I typically have to do the work ahead of time or else I won't have enough time to thoroughly read the prompt and respond to it. Another behavior I have developed is that I have to start looking through a smaller scope rather than looking at the big picture all the time.
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? I think this whole year in general has taught me to have a more tenacious attitude towards life because it has hit hard this past year. Juggling school, work, family issues, and still trying to have fun in college has been a struggle but well worth it for where I am now.
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
I think I would tell the students next semester that it's really up to them whether they want to grow with the course and foster skills that they already have or learn new ones. If they choose to grow, I'd say a good way to do this is to watch the lectures and try to take what he says into the real world. Look for the examples that are in real life and see how they play out.
Daniel,
ReplyDeleteA lot of the things that you talked about in your halfway evaluation had the same characteristics that I had in my evaluation as well. One thing that I couldn't go unspoken of though, is the fact that both of us have a tenacious attitude that if it doesn't get done now it wont be done properly.
Hi Daniel, I have also had to deal with some of the challenges that you wrote about in your post. I have a bad habit of procrastinating and whenever deadlines come up I either cram and increase stress or I forget about the assignment altogether. This has helped me realize that I need to be more organized in order to be successful, whether that be as an entrepreneur or just in general in the future.
