Assignment 30A: Final Reflection

2) What sticks out to you as the most formative experience? I think one of the first assignments that we did where we found a whole bunch of opportunities from things that we encountered in our daily life was one of the most formative exercises that we did. I never really stopped to look at things that cause minor annoyances to me because I'm not the type of person to complain I just move on with my life. This opened my eyes to how many opportunities are actually out there.
The experience that you'll remember years later? I think I'll remember the elevator pitch and how I ended up presenting it at the end. I learned a lot from doing it 3 times and think I perfected the way in which I would like to deliver a pitch regardless of what product or opportunity I am trying to pitch.
What was your most joyous experience? I think the most joyous experience was actually coming up with my product. I put a lot of time into it and really asked myself about what my passions are in life and what I enjoy most in life. Kayaking was one of the first things that came to mind because I would take them out all the time when I was in high school and go with my friends or family and made some of the most memorable experiences out on the water.
What experience are you most proud of yourself for accomplishing? I think I'm proud of the fact that I actually went out to my target customer base and asked their feedback on my product. It was very insightful in the sense that they gave me feedback that helped me decide what to add or take out of my product.

3) At the beginning of the semester, I mentioned that I wanted each of you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Now, at the end, do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you think you have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset?
I think that I see opportunities a lot more than I did before because I didn't really know what I was actually looking for. Now I realize that opportunities are everywhere, you just have to take notice of them and exploit them and come up with a solution that would fix or help the opportunity. I think the class has taught me a lot about the steps on how to come up. with a business concept and follow it through the process of perfecting and changing it to a product that is able to be sold and marketed to a specific segment.

4) What is the one recommendation you would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future? What would you recommend they do to perform best in this course? What would you recommend they do to foster that mindset?
I think the only recommendation that I have is to take the class seriously. Find an opportunity that you actually like and stick with it because anyone can go through the motions and do the assignments without really thinking about what they are doing or why. I think that the value of this course comes from actually thinking about what you are doing and applying it to other business ventures that you might have in mind.

  1. Hi Daniel,

I definitely agree that the Bug List was the most formative experience for me in this course. I just had no prior experience in looking at the world in this entrepreneurial way so that I am able to solve problems and make money. You provide good advice in taking this class seriously. It seems like you got a lot out of the course and hopefully you will use it to create a successful business of your own!
